Editorial Policy

Our commitment

mkb.org.pk publishes information to help Pakistanis understand and access fuel relief programmes. We are committed to accuracy, transparency, and independence. We are not funded by any government, political party, or scheme operator.

Source standards

We use a tiered approach to sourcing:

  • Primary sources (highest priority): Official government notifications, OGRA notifications, Ministry of IT & Telecom press releases, official 9771 SMS responses, official mkb.punjab.gov.pk portal content.
  • Reputable news sources: Dawn, Geo News / The News International, Gulf News — used for corroboration and context where primary sources are unavailable.
  • Internal editorial: Clearly marked editorial annotations, synthesis, and notes. Never used to assert factual claims.

Every factual claim on this site is attributed to a source. Sources are listed on each page where they apply.

Federal vs Punjab scheme separation

A critical editorial decision on this site is the strict separationof the two programmes:

  • PM Fuel Relief Scheme 2026 (federal): Announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on 13 September 2026. Administered by the Ministry of IT & Telecom. Registration via SMS to 9771. Covers all of Pakistan.
  • Maryam Ko Batayn (MKB) Programme (Punjab): A separate provincial initiative under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Administered through mkb.punjab.gov.pk. Helpline 1000 is a Punjab-only channel.

We do not blend these two schemes. We never present Helpline 1000 as a federal PM Fuel Relief Scheme contact. We never present SMS 9771 as a Punjab MKB channel.

Handling unverified information

Where official confirmation is not available, we say so explicitly. Key examples:

  • Province codes: Only Sindh = S has been confirmed by name in official reporting. For all other provinces, we direct readers to verify from official channels rather than publishing an unverified table.
  • pmfuelrelief.pk: One source calls it official; another warns it is not. We do not list it as a registration destination until officially confirmed.
  • SMS code 786: Appears only on unofficial sites. We cover it in a scam-debunking context only — never as a valid registration instruction.

Corrections policy

We correct factual errors promptly. When a correction is made:

  • The page's "last updated" date is updated.
  • For significant corrections, a correction note is added to the relevant section.
  • We do not silently delete incorrect information — corrections are transparent.

mkb.org.pk is independently operated. If this site carries advertising or affiliate links in future, they will be clearly disclosed. At the time of this policy's last update, no advertising or affiliate arrangements exist.
